Whilst reminiscing with my sister of our childhood this morning, we both remembered cruising round our living room, nodding our heads and shoulder rolling to this tune; pretending to be ‘down’ and attempting to forget for 5 minutes that infact, we weren’t G’s living in Brooklyn. The song for me is just effortlessly slick – the long, smooth, melodic bassline counterparted with the line ‘where rhythm is life, and life is rhythm’ is just pure genius. For two working class northern girls, we knew this was probably the closest we’d ever get to being ‘cool’.

And so, this is for all of the ‘geek’s off the street’ out there – let loose and get down to the sound of Mr Warren G…just make sure the curtains are closed before you do!
